Third Countries are countries that are not members of the EU. Their trade and cooperation with the EU as a whole as well as with its individual Member States varies greatly and is based on different (bilateral or multilateral) agreements. The EU-28’s most important energy trading partners include Russia and countries from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, many of whom struggle with instabilities, human rights violations and corruption on their territory.
