The EU refers to low-emission vehicles when the vehicle has tailpipe emissions below 50g/km. Examples are:
- an electric car,
- plug-in hybrids and
- fuel cell vehicles.
Fuel cell vehicles and full electric cars are zero-emission vehicles.
