Not In My Backyard Response (NIMBY) – characterizes local opposition in response to proposals for e.g. new energy grids built close to people’s homes, such as windmills, transmission lines or pumped hydro-storage. Also commonly referred to in the media as a "nimby".
Related to the energy sector and the smart grid paradigm, nimby activism targets recently Renewable energy sources [1] and especially wind energy infrastructure because of the increased impact on the landscape [2].
