A startup is generally seen as a newly set up entrepreneurial venture. They are usually smaller businesses but can grow into massive enterprises such as Apple, Uber, or Google. Examples of startups that work with energy are Solarcreed and Powerhouse. Startups are dealt with by the EU programs that support Small and medium-sized Enterprises (SME) generally, as they most often come under this definition.
